Muntasir Mamun

Writer, Researcher, Environmentalist

Muntasir Mamun is a Bangladeshi writer, environmental researcher, photographer, social entrepreneur, and adventurer whose work explores the intersection of geography, travel, conservation, and human society. Originally trained as an Electrical & Electronic Engineer, he has spent more than two decades leading environmental initiatives, conducting field research, and documenting Bangladesh's landscapes through writing and photography. He serves as the Country Coordinator for Ocean Conservancy's International Coastal Cleanup in Bangladesh, hosts the Banff Centre Mountain Film and Book Festival World Tour in Bangladesh, and coordinates Kewkradong Bangladesh, an organization working on marine debris research, environmental surveys, and coastal conservation. An avid explorer, he has cycled more than 40,000 kilometres across 14 countries, completed advanced mountaineering training at the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering in India, and participated in multiple Himalayan expeditions. He is the author of several books on travel and the environment and has organized numerous national and international photography exhibitions. His work has been recognized with the World Bank's Connect4Climate award. Through his books, research, photography, and expeditions, he seeks to understand how people shape landscapes—and how landscapes, in turn, shape people.
